# Choosing a different path for engine\_runtime.json

Hi.

I have picked up the tar.gz file with AceStream for Ubuntu from [here](https://download.acestream.media/linux/acestream_3.2.3_ubuntu_22.04_x86_64_py3.10.tar.gz) and made a deb package for Ubuntu 24.04 from it.

While doing this, noticed that I was unable to choose a different path for `engine_runtime.json` file. It seems that file is always written into the source directory.

Is there a way to set that file to a different path, or is this path currently hardcoded?

Yes. This issue will be addressed in the upcoming releases.

Hi. Any schedule for the upcoming release?

For Linux (Debian/Ubuntu) will it be released with Python 3.12 and/or Python 3.13 support?

Tried [version 3.2.11](https://download.acestream.media/linux/acestream_3.2.11_ubuntu_22.04_x86_64_py3.10.tar.gz) and it still has the same issue… a proper place to write this file would be the dir set with option `--state-dir`.
