Broadcast from http source

Hi everyone.

I have just recently know about this amazing software and I am really interested in using it for sharing my satellite receiver signal with people. The thing is that I am not sure if I can do. This is my situation. I hope you can clarify it for me.

I have got a satellite receiver who has a built in web server. I can watch it trough vlc, with an address like http://x.x.x.x:8080/live.

The information vlc gives me about the codec is the following:

Video:

Codec: H264 - MPEG-4 AVC (part 10) (h264)
Resolution: 1920x1090
Screen Resolution: 1920x1080
Framerate: 25

Audio:

Codec: A52 Audio (aka AC3)(a52)
Language: Spanish
Channels: Estereo
Sample rate: 48000 Hz
Bitrate: 192 kb/s

I have tried creating a new p2p broadcast with the address from the satellite receiver as the p2p source but once created it doesn’t seem to work. Tried the broadcasting-add-hls-single option but no success. I even tried to transcode the source with vlc but I have no success.

I just want to know if what I pretend to do is possible and if it is, you guys can point me in the right direction.

Thanks in advance.

Regards

For starters, you should set up translation with local video file first. Then, if this step is successful - try with remote video source.

Thank you for your answer Benny.

I am able to transcode the http stream from the satellite receiver with vlc and export to http with ts container but still no success creating a p2p broadcast. I know it’s working because I can open it from another computer with vlc. Once I tried to create the p2p broadcast it stays this way:

Name: Test
Content ID: ?
Bitrate: ?
Source download speed: opening source…
Upload speed: 0.00 kb/s

But nothing changes over time. I am not sure if my approach is right and if this is the right software for what I’m trying to do. I watch lists in kodi from people sharing their channels and I would like to be one of them, but I don’t know how people do it.
